Description

Supporting team structures for the cloud-native transformation

The course teaches how a cloud-native transformation can be successfully implemented in a company, taking into account organizational structures and processes. Theoretical principles are combined with practical exercises to enable a realistic understanding of the challenges and solutions. First, the multidimensional prerequisites for a sustainable cloud-native transformation are considered, which go beyond pure infrastructure considerations. These include the context of the organization, the derivation of a suitable cloud strategy, the evaluation of the status quo with the Cloud-Native Maturity Matrix and the identification of the next steps, taking into account the Theory of Constraints.

The focus is then on improving the developer experience (DevEx) for more efficient development and delivery processes. Using a realistic scenario, typical pitfalls are analyzed and strategies for overcoming obstacles are developed. Concepts such as Internal Developer Platforms and Team Topologies are used to develop a user-centered self-service platform that promotes autonomous, cross-functional teams.

Typical Day 2 challenges that can arise after the introduction of a self-service platform are then identified. Here, the concept of enabling teams is introduced, which can relieve the platform team and provide meaningful service enhancements. Finally, an argumentation guideline is jointly developed, with which the advantages and disadvantages as well as trade-offs in the development of a self-service platform can be convincingly presented to various stakeholders.

After this workshop, participants will be able to plan and implement a cloud-native transformation in the company with a focus on team structures in the IT department. The importance of organizational structures and processes will be understood and strategies can be applied to overcome obstacles and promote effective collaboration. The workshop is aimed at IT managers, architects and anyone involved in the design and implementation of a cloud-native transformation.
